Big Look follies

Well, the collectivists worst fears have come to pass.

In Oregon where our land use wars continue and incite deep passions in people the Big Look Task Force has recommended a revamping of the  most restrictive land use laws in the nation that has the socialist/collectivists howling.

You see, this group decided that a moderate direction that retains our land use statutes  (communist in nature) and returns more local control to communities is precisely why the Democrats in control of the legislature took all their money away last session, then restored it in the February special session after tremendous criticism. The collectivist crowd knows that when a moderate approach is suggested the public will support it to the extent that it permanently damages their restrictionist philosophy in public opinion. That is their worst fear.

In Oregon, this issue clearly impacts local political races and will have have an impact this fall's state elections.  Along with energy prices, this issue will define the idealogical differences between candidates. Will it be freedom as our founders intended, or the failed concept of collectivism?

The folly of the left is to ignore the Big Look recommendations and it will bite them this fall.
