Well well my friends. It seems that a new report from the Oregon Progress Board indicates that despite massive increases in state government spending, more regulations and more government control over our lives, the state is not meeting it’s goals. Now that is curious isn’t it?
I mean think about it. The Oregon legislature increased General Fund spending by almost 22% two years ago under the premise that greater government spending would lead to greater benefit right? Well perhaps not.
The report illustrates the fallacy that government spending or regulation improves your life across a broad range of benefits when the opposite is true. The yearly study by the Fraser Institute regarding the positive impacts of economic freedom around the world is a powerful argument against this type of thinking. Check it out and tell me if you agree. http://www.fraserinstitute.org/researchandpublications/publications/6194.aspx
